In Greene County district court Melaine Ann Jondal, 41, of Webster City was granted a deferred judgment after she pleaded guilty to fraudulent practice- third degree. She was placed on informal probation for one year. She must pay a civil penalty of $625, a Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge of $125, restitution of $125 for her court appointed attorney’s fees, and $140 court costs. Jondal was originally charged with false reporting of financial transaction, fraudulent practice- second degree, and unlawful betting more than $500 but less than $1,000. Faith Barnes, 34, of Pleasant Hill was granted a deferred judgment after she entered an Alford plea to a charge of fraudulent practice- third degree. (*In entering an Alford plea, a defendant does not admit committing a crime, but believes that given the facts in the county attorney’s information, a jury would find him guilty of the crime.) Barnes was placed on informal probation for one year. She paid a $625 civil penalty with a $125 LEI surcharge, restitution to be determined, $90 restitution for her court appointed attorney, and $160 court costs. Barnes was initially charged with false reporting of financial transaction, fraudulent practice- second degree, and unlawful betting more than $500 but less than $1,000. (Sentencing: Kester)
Susan Diane Martindale, 54, of Des Moines pleaded not guilty April 6 to a charge of possession of marijuana- first offense. A trial date was set for June 13.
Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Aaron Joseph Skalla, 26, of Jefferson has been charged with assault causing bodily injury.
